Nieuwsbrief 13 / Newsletter 13

IPC

 Op maandag 23 april zijn we van start gegaan met de tweede unit van IPC. Groep 3 t/m 5 verdiept zich in het onderwerp speelgoed. Voor de opening werd een tijdmachine gebruikt om zo kennis te maken met spelletjes van vroeger. De Zweedse basisschoolkinderen waren ook uitgenodigd en het was een gezellige middag.
De peuters en groep 1 en 2, werken met het thema beren. Deze unit werd geopend op woensdag 25 april met een heuse berenpicknick. Alle ouders en de Zweedse peuters/kleuters met hun ouders waren uitgenodigd.

Het eindpunt van dit thema zal vallen in de week van 21-25 mei. In die zelfde week zal de school weer bezoek krijgen van de IPC-expert Mathieu Bouwman.

On Monday the 23rd of April, we started with our second IPC theme. Group 3, 4 and 5 opened the ‘Toys’ theme using a time-machine to discover toys and games of the past. The Swedish children also joined in and it was a great experience.
The toddlers and group 1&2 opened on Wednesday, the 25th, with a real bears’ pick-nick. All parents and the younger Swedish children and their parents were invited. It became very cosy, as the rains drove us all in one classroom!
The IPC closing ceremony will be held in the week of the 21st-25th of May. During this same week Mr. Mathieu Bouwman, the IPC-expert, will visit our school once again.

Koninginnedag/Queens Day

Vanuit het team een groot DANKJEWEL voor de werkgroep, de hulp-ouders en iedereen die meegeholpen heeft op koninginnedag. Het was een zeer geslaagde dag met een grote opkomst!

De opbrengst van de verkoop van de kunstwerkjes, de placemats en de klei van school voor het goede doel is ong. Ksh. 10.000/-. Er zijn nog enkele prachtstukken over voor de verkoop!

We raised Ksh. 10.000/- with the selling of art, place-mats and play-dough. This money will be used to support a local charity. There are still some master pieces left for sale!  

Culturele Dag/Cultural Event

Op donderdagochtend 17 mei, van 9.00 tot 13.00, zal de jaarlijkse Culturele Dag worden gehouden. Deze dag wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met de Zweedse, Duitse, Franse en Japanse scholen. De dag is bedoeld voor kinderen vanaf 6 jaar. Het geheel zal plaats vinden op de Japanse School. Wij zoeken nog enkele ouders die mee kunnen als begeleiding en/of voor vervoer. Geef uw interesse door aan Juf Els en/of Juf Hanneke.

The annual Cultural Day will be held on Thursday morning, the 17th of May, from 9.00-13.00 hours. This event is organised together with the Swedish, German, French and Japanese Schools. This day is meant for children of 6 years and older. The event will be held at the Japanese School. We are still looking for parents who could help us that morning with transportation and/or assistance during the morning itself. Please let Juf Els or Juf Hanneke know if you are interested.

Groep 1&2/Group 1&2
Juf Barbara zal vanaf nu stage lopen in groep 1 & 2. Alleen in de week van 13-21 mei is Juf Barbara afwezig. In die week zal Juf Astrid op vrijdagochtend groep 1 & 2 lesgeven. Juf Yvonne zal dan de peuters overnemen.

This term Juf Barbara will do part of her practical training in group 1 & 2. However she will be absent in the week of 13-21 May. On Friday morning the 18th Juf Astrid will take over group 1 & 2. Juf Yvonne will be in the toddler group that Friday morning.
